DGGS with West Commander Shares Views with Injured Troops

In order to ensure that the injured troops, most of who are from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and the Gemunu Watch (GW) under the Security Force HQ-West are well cared, Major General Nishantha Manage, Director General General Staff at the Army Headquarters, together with Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces-West during the weekend visited those lying at the Colombo Army Hospital.

Major General Nishantha Manage, Director General General Staff who is also the Colonel of the Regiment, VIR during the visit had a few words with them and spoke high of their disciplined and dedicated commitment for the best interests of the country during the most recent clashes around the Parliament complex.

He also inquired into their recovery process with medical authorities and requested them to provide the best of the best treatment during their stay.

Similarly, Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces -West spoke to those injured Army personnel and appreciated their disciplined and dedicated commitment for the best interests of the country.

The visit undertaken as per directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage was also joined by Brigadier Subath Sanjeewa, Air Mobile Brigade Commander, Lieutenant Colonel H.P.C Karunarathne, Commanding Officer, 1VIR and the VIR Regimental Sergeant Major.

More than two dozens of Army personnel during clashes with protesters on Wednesday (13) around the Parliament complex were assaulted by violent elements while they were trying their maximum to desist their entry into the Parliament complex.
