Major General W.H.K.S. Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff (COS), paid a significant visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-Wanni) on 02 March 2024.
Upon arrival, COS was greeted in a Guard Turnout, presented by Wanni troops before he was warmly welcomed by Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkakara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, SF - Wanni.
During his visit, the COS addressed the troops, expressing gratitude to all fallen War Heroes while acknowledging the commendable role and tasks performed by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army and SF - Wanni. He highlighted concerns such as underworld activities, drug trafficking, importance of battalion and other training, involvement in gambling activities, media and social media usage, job security and welfare facilities gained through the Army.
In his speech, he extended sincere gratitude to Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, for the opportunity, and appreciated the efforts of the Commander, SF - Wanni, in organizing the event.
At the end of the address, the Commander, SF – Wanni presented special mementos to the day’s chief guest. The COS interacted with the troops during an All Ranks tea, planted a sapling in the premises and posed for a few group photographs with the SFHQ-Wanni troops. Before departing, the COS left complimentary remarks in the visitors' book.
General Officers Commanding, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - Wanni, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers and Officers were also present during the occasion.
