Troops of the 22 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) extended their fullest support to conduct the annual Kovil Pooja at ‘Sri Durga Amman’ Hindu Kovil in Trincomalee on Tuesday (19).
Before the Pooja, 22 Division troops carried out a ‘Sharmadana’ campaign to clean the surroundings of the Kovil hand-in-hand with devotees in the area.
The coordinating assistance was provided to the task under the guidance of Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division.
On the day of the Pooja, troops provided refreshments for gathering of more than 500 devotees.
The chief priest (Kurukkal) and devotees expressed their gratitude to the Army and appreciated their assistance to make the religious event a success.
Colonel H.M.N.B Herath, Colonel Coordinator, 22 Division, Senior Officers, Police Officers, Other Ranks and a large gathering of civilians took part in the offerings.
