Community Project for Water Flow Joined by Civilians

A self-help community project to clean and regularize the water flow in the Kanagarayan Aru which carries a considerable amount of water from the Iranamadu Tank to other areas for agricultural purposes got underway on Monday (21).

In the face of imminent overflow of the Kanagarayan Aru with monsoon rainy season set in, troops as well as civilians joined hands together and carried out the cleaning project. Major General B. P. S de Silva, the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, and the Commander 573 Brigade, gave their guidelines to the arrangement and got it organized. Troops of the 573 Brigade participated in the entire day's 'Shramadana' campaign with civilians.
