Commander Patronizes Award of Gifts to School Students

The patronage extended by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army enabled the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) to give away gift packs, each worth more than Rs 2000.00, inclusive of school equipment and essential items to 50 students studying at Pitipana Primary School in Homagama on Thursday (5) at the school premises.

Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West guided the project with the support and close supervision of Brigadier Ravindra Jayasinghe, Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel W.A.S.M Wijayalath, Commanding Officer of 15 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment who coordinated the organizational aspect with his troops.

The Commander of SFHQ-West graced the simple ceremony as the Chief Guest with several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, the Principal and members of the tutorial staff.

In the meanwhile, one more phase of the same project, spearheaded by Major General Mohan Rathnayake, Commander, Security Forces - Central (SFHQ - Central) awarded gift parcels of school accessories, sanitary items, face masks, etc, each pack worth more than Rs 2000.00 to 50 students of Sawdam Tamil School at Demodara, Badulla on Thursday (5).

Brigadier Kumara Wanasinghe, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ - Central on behalf of the Commander, SF - Central took part in the project, together with several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, the Principal and members of the tutorial staff were present at the simple event.

Meanwhile, 50 students at Keppapilaw Primary School in Mullaitivu were the beneficiaries of the Commander’s patronage for receipt of gift packs, each worth more than Rs 2000.00, inclusive of school equipment and essential items.

Brigadier Sujeewa Perera, Commander, 591 Infantry Brigade under the directions of Major General Darshana Wijesekara, Commander, SF-MLT and Major General Mahinda Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division under the close supervision of Lieutenant Colonel D.K Kaluwadewage, Commanding Officer, 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry joined the distribution of those incentives to students in the school premises.
