Commander Inspects Food Quality of ORs at Army Cantonment

Just minutes after the ceremonial parade of Lebanon- bound Sri Lankan troops was over at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regimental Headquarters on Sunday (30), General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army made a surprise inspection visit to the Panagoda cantonment.

With a view to ensuring that best of the best food quantities of high quality and nutritional standards are provided to soldiers, the Army Chief visited the 1 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps and closely observed the Other Ranks’ mess in the unit inclusive of the main cook house, preparation of food varieties and tasted some of those curries for quality and standards.

The Army Chief maintains that all Army soldiers on duty round the clock for the best interests of the Nation should be provided a decent meal with necessary nutrients of quality n correct proportions, having cooked them using best hygienic methods.

Likewise, he did not forget to have brief discussions with cooks of the unit regarding preparation of foods, available facilities and capacities in the mess halls before he suddenly moved to have a look at the ORs’ accommodation facilities in the 1 SLAOC premises.

Few senior Officers, including Brigadier Ajith Munasingha, Centre Commandant Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), joined the visit.
