Commander Inspects 'Deyata Kirula' Army Site Preparations in Ampara


Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army on Sunday (24) arrived in Ampara with the intention of evaluating how Army arrangements are in progress in connection with the forthcoming ‘Deyata Kirula-2013’ mega exhibition in March.

Sri Lanka Army, as is the practice in previous years, is to put up more than 35 exhibition stalls in the 18-acre land extent, allotted solely to the Army by the organizers of the mega exhibition. The Army exhibits have remained huge crowd-pullers in the past few years.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya met with the senior officers in charge of the exhibition site and received a comprehensive understanding over the erection of Army stalls there after perusing each segment of the proposed structural plan which is fast nearing completion.

The visiting Commander, accompanied by several senior officers took time off to inspect several partly completed exhibition stalls and inquired into different aspects of the proposed placement of exhibits, giving necessary instructions and directions.   

During the site inspection, the Commander visited each and every stall under construction and saw for himself how visitors are to be facilitated with the least inconvenience in all Army exhibition stalls.

Deyata Kirula’ mirrors government development schemes, agricultural, environmental, scientific, commercial and other multi-faceted nation building projects being pursued in every corner of the Island. 

Meanwhile, the Commander giving further strength to another welfare project took time off to open another accommodation facility for Army personnel at Ampara since the area expects a large number of visitors during ‘Deyata Kirula’. At the initial stage this facility will be used by distinguished visitors during the mega exhibition.
