Commander Hands Over Army-Designed Presidential Dispatch Bag to the President

The ‘Attaché Case’, the Presidential dispatch bag, crafted jointly by the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (DEME) and the Directorate of Information Technology on the instructions of the Commander of the Army in response to a special direction by His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremasinghe was handed over to the President this morning (2) by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army at the Presidential Secretariat.

The ‘Attaché Case’, a sophisticated briefcase is generally carried by world leaders as a tradition to take their important and essential documents with them wherever they travel, and the President wanted this world famous tradition be introduced to our country by directing the Sri Lanka Army to craft this Presidential dispatch bag to match with international standards.

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Commander of the Army, a group of skilled experts in the field, headed by Director General, Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara USP psc designed the state-of-the-art Dispatch Bag as per specifications given by the Presidential Secretariat incorporating high-end technology.

His Excellency the President after accepting and inspecting the high quality and neatly done Presidential Dispatch Bag from the Commander of the Army commended the Army for its craftsmanship and the durability. Traditionally, the Presidential Dispatch Bag would be handed over to the successive President.
