Commander En Route Reviews Area Security in Galle

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, accompanied by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch visited Galle Area Headquarters Friday (6) afternoon to review ongoing security measures in the area and look into matters related to the welfare of the troops serving the area.

Commander of the Army on arrival at the Headquarters was received by Major General S.W.L. Daulagala, Commander Security Forces, South and Galle Area Commander, Brigadier P.U.S. Vithanage.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya later on took time off to plant a Na sapling in the Headquarters compound as a token of memory of his visit to the place. He also inspected the new building that provides accommodation for Medical students recruited to the Army, currently following their course at the Medical Faculty of Ruhunu University in Karapitiya and gave instructions to improve its facilities further. 

At the conference hall, Major General S.W.L. Daulagala and Brigadier P.U.S. Vithanage presented a comprehensive account of the security arrangements in place and other community oriented projects that have been undertaken by the Army in the area with special focus on continuing Dengue eradicating programme.  

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya during the briefing at the conference hall gave additional instructions to the senior officers on measures that should be further improved. Senior staff officers in the Area Headquarters were also present on the occasion.
