Commander Conducts Unannounced Visits & Inquires into Standards at Ratmalana Camps

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army, sensitive to the requirements, facilities, and quality of foods being prepared and served at Army establishments undertook surprise visits separately to the 4 Sri Lanka Engineers camp, Directorate of the Army Band and Performing Arts, and the Army Transit Camp at Ratmalana during lunch intermissions on Sunday (14) with the objective of receiving a firsthand experience of those inside arrangements.

At respective locations, he walked into kitchen units where meals are prepared and cooked before he moved into accommodation buildings of Other Ranks and their billet areas. Talking to kitchen chefs and staff in charge of different sections, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage inquired into daily menus, quality and nutrition aspects, the content of calories, condition of utensils, accessories, and equipment, furniture, beds, and linen at the accommodation sections before he gave a piece of advice and instructions for further improvement.

The visiting Army Chief was joined by Brigadier Shantha Ranaweera, Overall Security Coordinator and a few Senior Officers. At first, the Army Chief visited the 4 Sri Lanka Engineers camp, and subsequently the Directorate of the Army Band and Performing Arts and the Army Transit Camp at Ratmalana.
