Commander Briefs Visiting Pakistan NDU Team on Current Security Developments

A DELEGATION of officers, attached to the Pakistan National Defence University (NDU), now visiting Sri Lanka as part of their study programme called on Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, Commander of the Army Tuesday (21) morning at the Army Headquarters.

The visiting team of delegates, headed by Rear Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar as Group Leader included seventeen military officers from Pakistan tri-services and military men from Saudi Arabia, Germany and United Kingdom.    

Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka, during his interaction with the visitors briefed them on various phases, related to ongoing humanitarian operations in the Vanni as well as rescue missions in the “No Fire Zone” against civilians being held hostage in Puthumattalan by the LTTE. Commander also elaborated measures and arrangements in place to receive them and for provision of basic requirements on their arrival in the Security Forces-held areas. Commander also gave them an overall picture of the security situation prevailing in the country in response to a few queries made by the visitors. 

To make the event memorable, both Commander and the Head of the NDU delegation exchanged plaques before their departure.

Defence attaché to the High Commission for Pakistan in Sri Lanka Brigadier Syed Kausar Hussain Shah and a few senior officers of the Army Headquarters were present on the occasion.
