In preparation for the 76th Independence Day of the country to be celebrated on Sunday 04 February 2024, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, inspected the parade rehearsals along with the Chief of Staff and a group of Senior Officers today (01 Feb).
During the inspection, the Army Chief engaged in discussions with Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Adjutant General along with other Senior Officers present, emphasizing the arrangement of the parade. Special attention was given to the fact of ensuring the safety of the paratroopers and the success of their aerial maneuvers.
At the same time, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Chief of Defence Staff, took charge of overseeing the Independence Parade along with Navy and Air Force Commanders and other Senior Officers. The inspection aimed to assess the collective participation of the troops and evaluate the contribution of Sister Services to the overall success of the event.
