Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) - produced one of the most dedicated Senior Officers, Major General Mahinda Mudalige, Commander, Security Forces – West and Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI on the eve of his retirement from the Army had a courtesy audience with the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the latter’s office in the Army Headquarters on Friday (6).
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva during the brief interaction with the retiring Senior Officer shared a few thoughts and recalled a couple of past battlefield memories as well as other recollections. Major General Mudalige who has served the organization for more than three decades and the SLLI in particular played a significant role during the most recent Easter attack of Muslim terrorists.
The outgoing Senior Officer also thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and the thoughtfulness. Towards the end, Lieutenant General Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of his appreciation and commendation. The gesture was reciprocated.
