Combat Diving Course No - 9 Produces More Divers & Swimmers

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony in the Special Forces Combat Diving Course Number -9, took place on Sunday (31) during a simple ceremony, held at the Combat Diving Training School in Nayaru.

The Course that provides a comprehensive knowledge on theoretical and practical aspects of water borne operations while promoting diving and combat diving skills, facilitates the soldiers to receive tactical capabilities and scuba diving techniques which are essential for under water swimming.

Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment, Special Forces as the Chief Guest attended the awarding ceremony and expressed his happiness over the successful conduct of the course.

Best performers of the combat diving course also received separate awards on the same occasion. To this date, the diving school has produced more than 280 qualified divers and swimmers to the armed forces after its inauguration in January 2015.

Flight Lieutenant S.S.K.S.N.B Rathnayake of the Regimental Special Forces (RSF) of Sri Lanka Air Force was adjudged the best student in the course.

Brigadier Chandimal Peiris, General Officer Commanding 57 Division, Brigadier Vipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding 58 Division, Colonel Kanchana Weerasekera, Commander Special Forces Brigade and Colonel Randunu Prasad, Center Commandant Regimental Center Special Forces and Regimental Council members and Other Ranks too participated in the awarding ceremony.
