Colonel H. S Ratnayake of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who was on leave, prior to retirement suddenly passed away on Wednesday (1 June) after a brief illness at the age of 56 years.
He served as the Colonel Coordinating Officer (Volunteer Matters) at 11 Division Headquarters in Kandy before he went on prior retirement leave. His remains are now lying at his residence at No 8/89, Parana Ganthota Road, Kandy. Funeral arrangements with full military honours will take place at 1230 hrs on Saturday (4) at Mahaiyawa General Cemetery, Kandy.
