More than 3170 coconut saplings were distributed among civilians resident in Muthiyankaddukulam, Kanagaratnapuram, Tachchaadappan and Manamalapattamuruppu Gramaseva Divisions in Mullaittivu on Saturday (17).
The initiative, taken by the 643 Brigade Headquarters in Muthiyankaddukulam in coordination with Coconut Cultivation and National Estate Development Ministries and their Divisional Managers, was organized by the troops of 30 and 31 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) and the Commanding Officer.
The move, designed to promote livelihood assistance and conservation of the environment, received the backing of Mr D.M.L. Bandaranayake, Additional Secretary and Mr Sunanda Gamage, Provincial Manager.
