COAS of Pakistan Awards 'Overseas Gold Medal' to Sri Lankan Officer Cadet

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Overseas Gold Medal of the Pakistan Army was awarded to the Officer Cadet Pasindu Dayananda of the Sri Lankan Army by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan during the Passing Out Parade of Officer Cadets, held on Saturday (29) at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) ground in Kakul.

The Passing Out parade of Cadets of 147th PMA Long Course, 13th Mujahid Course, 66th Integrated Course, 6th Basic Military Training Course and 21st Lady Cadet Course at the Pakistan Military Academy was graced by General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army as the Chief Guest.

More than 750 Officer Cadets followed the PMA Long Course -147, 13th Mujahid Course, 66th Integrated Course, 6th Basic Military Training Course and 21st Lady Cadet Course along with overseas Cadets from Palestine, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar and Sri Lanka who also passed out during the same parade.

Defence Advisor of the Sri Lankan High Commission in Pakistan along with Officers who are currently following the National Defence University Course (NDU) in Pakistan and a host of foreign delegates, distinguished invitees, officers and other ranks, relatives and parents witnessed the day's spectacular parade where military salutes, address of the COAS and colourful formalities took the centrestage.

The COAS General Syed Asim Munir on arrival at the parade ground reviewed the parade and took the salute of those Officer Cadets before awards were distributed among distinguished Cadets. He was received by the PMA Commandant on arrival at the premises.

The Officer Cadet Pasindu Dayananda of the Sri Lanka Army was awarded the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Overseas Gold Medal while the coveted Sword of Honour was awarded to the Academy's Senior Under Officer Abdullah Bin Tariq. The President’s Gold medal was awarded to the Battalion Senior Under Officer Ali Amir of the PMA Long Course-147 during the passing out parade and the COAS Cane was awarded to the Course Under Officer Muhammad Adnan Munawar of 13th Mujahid.

The COAS congratulated the passing out Cadets and their parents on the successful completion of their training at the PMA, the premier seat of military training in Pakistan.
