Symbolizing the continuing goodwill and cooperation between the Indian Army and the Sri Lanka Army, the visiting General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff of Indian Army on Wednesday (16) morning called at the Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) to be received in a cordial welcome.
On arrival at the SLMA, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne, Commandant, SLMA received him after a Guard Turnout saluted General Rawat at the SLMA entrance.
Minutes after his arrival, he laid a floral wreath at the SLMA War Memorial in a brief solemn ceremony where he saluted fallen War Heroes.
Later on, planting an ironwood tree at the SLMA compound added memories to the visit to Diyatalawa.
The distinguished visitor afterwards received a briefing on the SLMA roles as a formality from the Commanding Officer of the Officer Cadet Wing, Colonel Ajith Wickramasekera.
He also took time off to speak to a section of the SLMA Cadet Officers before he participated in refreshments. Exchange of plaques culminated the arrangement.
