Troops of the 623 Infantry Brigade of the 62 infantry Division under command to the Security Force HQ- Wanni undertook the coordination of free supply of school books and accessories to 88 school children of Grades 1-5 and special service appreciative gifts to 6 teachers at Kebithigollewa Kanugahawewa Primary School on Tuesday (14 March).
Each pack, worth Rs 5000/= was sponsored jointly by Rev Osman De Alwis, Rev Luke Junsen, Rev Richard Jayakumar and Rev Lasantha Jayalath. 11 Gemunu Watch troops organized the event. Representatives of the donor clergies were also present during the distribution.
General Officer Commanding, 62 Infantry Division Major General Janaka Ranasinghe graced the event as the Chief Guest, together with the 623 Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Ranjith Budagoda, Senior officers and Other Ranks.
