The annual limited-over softball Cricket Tournament of the Directorate of Civil Administration (DCA) of the Army got underway on Saturday (4) at Henry Olcott College grounds in Kollonnawa.
Five teams, made up of civil staffers from island-wide Security Force Headquarters participated in the tournament for this year’s Trophy.
The team from the Colombo-based DCA after being selected to bat at first, beat the rival civil team of the Engineers from all Security Force Headquarters with 112 runs against 3 wickets during the limited 10 overs and qualified to receive the trophy.
Trophies for Man of the Series and Best Batman were awarded to Mr. Sudam Chaminda, Vice captain of the DCA who collected 82 runs not out. The Best Bowler trophy went to Ajith Chaminda of the Engineers (civil) team of the Security Force Headquarters.
However, the 3rd place was won by Engineers (Army) team of the Security Force Headquarters beating the accounts office team at Panagoda Divisional Office.
This year’s tournament was competed by 5 teams and the arrangement has been organized on the instructions of Mr Gamini Mahagamage, Director, DCA.
Trophies and shields were awarded at the end of the tournament in a ceremony, headed by Mr Mahagamage and senior administrative officers.
