Ambassador for People’s Republic of China Ms Yang Suping recently visited Wanni and gave away school books and accessories to children learning in three under-developed schools.
In addition, a sum of Rs 5 lakhs each, was also donated to those schools for development work. Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni during a brief meeting with her explained the status quo regarding living standards of the public and students in the area and pointed out most wanted requirements in specific areas.
Distribution ceremony was attended by District Secretary for Vavuniya, District Education Director, Chairman, Sri Lanka - China Friendship Association, Ven Gunaratana, Patron, Singapore Maha Karuna Buddhist Association and a gathering of Principals and teachers.
