Chief of Staff in Lebanon Talks to 14th SLFPC Troops in UNIFIL

Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff (COS) of the Army during his visit to attend the 14th Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) in UNIFIL medal-awarding ceremony, together with the Director General General Staff, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc and Colonel Overseas Operations, Colonel P.P.C Perera, took time off to address the troops at Sri Base camp in Greenhill, Naquora, Lebanon on Thursday (7 Sept).

During the troop address, the Chief of Staff stressed the importance of rendering a valuable service to the UNIFIL as disciplined men and women soldiers of Sri Lanka while simultaneously winning the hearts and minds of Lebanese people in the UN environment. Furthermore, he highlighted the effective contribution of Sri Lankan peacekeepers to the economic development of the country through participation in the UN peacekeeping roles.

After the troops address, the Sri Lankan delegation accompanied by the Contingent Commander, 14th SLFPC Lieutenant Colonel D.P.L.T Kaluaggala had a field visit in the camp compound and interacted with a section of the troops serving there.

The delegation inspected the Medical Section, Stores, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (SLEME) workshop and other units.

At the end of the day's programme mementos were presented to the delegation by the Contingent Commander in remembrance of their visit to the Sri Base camp. The gesture was reciprocated.
