Chief Field Engineer Undertakes Formal Visits

The Chief Field Engineer of Sri Lanka Army, Major General Tissa Nanayakkara paid an official visit to the Headquarters Engineer Brigade, 8, 9 and 10 Field Engineer Regiments after assumption of the office as the Chief Field Engineer a few weeks ago.

The visit to the Engineer Brigade and 8 Field Engineer Regiment took place on 16 September and he visited 9 and 10 Field Engineer Regiments during 17- 18 September. The Chief Field Engineer was ceremonially welcomed at each station followed by a briefing on current operational commitments by heads of respective institutions.

The Chief Field Engineer also visited the Boo Oya camp premises where he commanded the 5 Field Engineer Regiment in early 2000. During his camp visit, he witnessed available facilities for men and civil employees while focusing on raising standards. At each station, he addressed sapper troops and emphasized the necessity to work hard while maintaining outstanding discipline at every time. Further, he witnessed Humanitarian De-mining operations and their progress during the visit to sites at Mullaittivu and Muhamalai. During these visits, he appreciated the commitment of sappers to make Sri Lankan soil free from the threat of land mines.

The urgent plant works at Regional Ordnance Dump Complex at Gajasinghapura was observed by the CFE and had courtesy meetings with Commanders of the Security Forces - Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu during those field visits. Also, he visited the Engineer Brigade, 9 and 10 Field Engineer Regiments where he planted saplings at each camp premises.
