Central Troops Join Hands with Others in 'Nuwara Eliya' Cleaning Project

Troops of the 3 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) in the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) cooperated with the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council authorities, for cleaning of the surroundings near the George Lake on account of ‘Nuwara Eliya Wasantha Festival’.

54 Army personnel of the 3 (V) SLSR, including 4 Officers, together with 300 civilians of Nuwaraeliya town area, members of the Divisional Secretariat, tri-service members and Police officers joined hands, together with one another to make the project a success.

During the day’s cleaning programme, troops of the SFHQ-Cen, on the directions of Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander Security Forces – Central, together with other participants piled up garbage at specific locations and took steps to either bury it or dispose it methodically after separating all pieces of garbage.

The attention was also paid to identify specific locations for collection of garbage in the areas covered in the cleaning project.

The ‘Shramadana’ project was supported by the Commanding Officer, 3 (V) SLSR responding to a request made by Mr P.B Chandana, Mayor of the Nuwaraeliya Municipal Council.
