Central Troops Convert Youth Centre Building as ICC for COVID-19 Patients

The Youth Center at Bindunuwewa, Bandarawela was recently improvised as an Intermediate Care Center (ICC) and vested in health authorities by the Commander, Security Forces -Central Major General Vikum Liyanage on Thursday (12).

The troops of the Security Forces-Central under the supervision of the Brigadier Anura Disanayake, Commander, 112 Brigade converted it to accommodate 311 patients in the event of any emergency. Necessary beds, mattresses and pillows were provided by the Sri Lanka Army to meet the emerging health care demands of the Central Province as per instructions given by Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva.

Major General Vikum Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - Central with the support of 112 Brigade troops took prompt action to convert this centre to serve as an ICC within a few weeks.
