Central Troops Bring Bush Fires Under Control

Members of the Army serving the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-Cen) rose to the occasion and took immediate steps to bring two bush fires that took place in the general areas of Kandy of 111 Brigade and under the 11 Division and Moneragala area under the 12 Division.

More than 115 Army personnel of the 11 & 12 Divisions of the SFHQ-Cen on the directions of Major General Rukmal Dias, Commander, Security Forces - Central under the supervision of respective General Officers Commanding hurried to those places and doused those bush fires.

Troops in the area were alerted to the fast spreading bush fires by civilians, prompting the soldiers of those two Divisions to rush to the scenes.

Troops completely brought the fast spreading fire under control with the support of some civilians who came to the locations.

Meanwhile, another bush fire that was fast reaching a private property where Chemicals remain stored was also brought under control by the troops of 11 Division serving Mahakandara area Kandy in the past 48 hours.
