Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, the nearly-appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) made his first visit to the Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) on Thursday (20).
The visiting CDS was received by Major General Janaka Walgama, Commander, SFHQ-E before a Guard of Honour greeted the visiting Air Chief Marshal Gunathileke. The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops took part in the military honours.
Subsequently, the visiting CDS planted a tree sapling at the SFHQ-E premises to mark his visit.
Chief of Defence Staff later on received a briefing on the Security Force deployments in the East, Civil-Military cooperation, security matters and current state of affairs in the region from the Commander, SFHQ-E.
This was followed by the briefings conducted by Rear Admiral N.B.J. Rosayro, Commander, Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral K.K.J. De Silva, Commander South-Eastern Naval Area, and Air Commodore J.P. Wanigatunga, Deputy Commandant, Sri Lanka Air Force Base, China Bay on their respective deployments.
Exchange of mementos between the Commander, SFHQ-E and the visiting CDS culminated the day’s proceedings.
All Divisional Commanders serving the SFHQ-E and tri-service officers attended the event.
