Buddhist Monks at Army Request Distribute Rs 1.2 m Worth Essentials among Oddusuddan Families

Patronage and Sponsorship of South-based Buddhist monks enabled 64 Division troops of the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu to distribute 250 dry ration packs among the most-affected poor people living in the Oddusudan Divisional Secretariat area on Monday (28) on an initiative taken by Major General Manjula Karunarathne, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division.

Most Ven Thalalle Chandakiththi Nayake Thero, together with the support of local and overseas contributors at Sri Narada Buddhist Centre in Colombo 7 organized those dry ration packs, each worth around Rs 4500/= to the value of some Rs 1.2 m.

The coordination was done by the Divisional Secretariat after selecting the most deserving low income families in Oddusudan.

Most Ven Thalalle ChandaKiththi Thero, Ven Waththegama Nipuna Thero, Chief Incumbent at Mahadagala Raja Maha Vihara in Medawachchiya, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu, Brigadier Shashika Perera, Commander, 642 Brigade and a few Senior Officers with government officials graced the distribution event.
