Brigadier Nandana Dunuwila assumed duties as the 24th General Officer Commanding of the 56 Division on Thursday (21) at the 56 Division Headquarters in Kokeliya, Vavuniya.
The incoming GOC reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops on his arrival at the Headquarters premises. The GOC was afterwards welcomed by the Colonel General Staff and all senior officers of the 56 Division. Amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ of Buddhist monks, the new GOC left his signature in an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office.
Later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the premises as a gesture of memory. The formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks followed after an all ranks tea before the day’s proceedings ended.
Brigadier Nandana Dunuwila, prior to this new appointment served as the Director Recruiting at the Directorate of Recruiting at Kohuwala.
