Brigadier Lanka Amarapala, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 12 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Central assumed duties on Sunday (20) at the 12 Division Headquarters in Hambantota during a simple ceremony.
A formal Guard Turnout of the 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops saluted the new GOC upon his arrival at the Division Headquarters premises before he was ushered to the new office inside the HQ premises. Afterwards, amid religious blessings, he placed his signature for an official document and symbolized the acceptance of his new responsibilities.
Later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory, along with several Senior Officers. After a while, he addressed officers and other ranks and explained his vision for the smooth conduct of affairs at the 12 Division HQ.
Brigade Commanders of the 121 and 122 Brigades, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving under the 12 Division were associated with the day’s inauguration of office.
Brigadier Lanka Amarapala was the Director of Psychological Operations at the Army Headquarters before he took over this new appointment.
