The book, ‘Story of the World: Geopolitical Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone’, authored by Colonel Nalin Herath, Director Media at the Ministry of Defence was released on Thursday (12 January) during a ceremony at Rock House Army camp in the presence of a gathering of tri-service Officers and invitees, including Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, State Minister of Defence and General G.D.H Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.
Representing the Commander of the Army, Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Chief of Staff attended the book-launch ceremony.
Senior Lecturer Dr. Harinda Vidanage, Head of the Department of Strategic Studies - KDU made the keynote address and Brigadier Sri Mudannayake (Retd) delivered the special guest’s speech highlighting many facets of the comprehensive study of the new book in the field of geopolitical alliances and rivalries.
The author, Colonel Nalin Herath presented maiden copies of his new book to the State Minister of Defence, General G.D.H Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Secretary to the Ministry of Defense, Chief of Defense Staff General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Director General of Civil Security Department, Major General Ranjan Lamahewage (Retd), Director General of the President’s Media Division, Dhanushka Ramanayake, Commandant of the National Defence College, Major General Amal Karunasekara (Retd), Chief of National Intelligence, Major General Ruwan Kulathunga (Retd), Acting Director General, INSS, Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena, Additional Secretaries of the Defence Ministry and a few others.
A gathering of state officials, senior military and Police officers, university dons, intellectuals, journalists and distinguished invitees was present at the occasion.
