Best Wishes Heaped on Retiring Senior Officer of GR Family

One of proud sons of the Keterians' family, retiring Major General Shane Gunawardhana, the former Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Headquarters on Monday (01) was felicitated and honoured in a customary farewell salute and formalities at the Gajaba Regimental Centre at Saliyapura in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers, including Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment and Sri Lanka National Guard who graced as the Guest of Honour.

The day’s ceremony commenced with a customary Guard Turnout followed by offering of floral tributes to late Major General Wijaya Wimalaratne's statue, the founding father of the Gajaba Regiment (GR). The colourful farewell parade then saluted the outgoing Senior Officer who rendered an exemplary service to the Army and the country alike.

The day's farewell dinner night added a highlight to the occasion.

Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Gajaba Regiment and Sri Lanka National Guard Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage participated in the colourful formality and extended best wishes to him.

Members of the Regimental Council, Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and all the staff officers of the Regimental Headquarters were present at this ceremony.
