Troops of the 233 Brigade under command to the 23 Division of the Security Force HQ - East (SFHQ-E) on Saturday (16) with sponsorship given by a Kurunegala - based donor, gave away 100 dry ration packs to the value of Rs. 350,000/= to the needy families in Batticaloa District inviting the beneficiaries to the 233 Brigade Headquarters.
On the request made by the Commander, 233 Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, Mr Suresh, proprietor of Kurunegala Murugan Business Ltd came forward to sponsor the project.
Major General Lal Chandrasiri, Commander, Security Forces - East, together with Senior officers, Officers and the beneficiaries attended the programme.
Meanwhile, thanks to the sponsorship given by the same donor from Kurunegala, 233 Brigade troops organized the distribution of a stock of school accessories among Grade 6 students at Vigneshwaram Junior School - Kathiraveli, Thirumagal Vidyalaya - Panichchankerni, Arunthathy Vidyalaya - Kandalady, Vammiraddawan Vidyalaya and Vakarei Maha Vidyalaya in Batticaloa District on 17 April 2022.
The programme was conducted under the direction and supervision of the Commander, 233 Brigade, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage.
Principals, teachers, Senior Officers, Officers and parents of the students participated in the event.
