Bare Land Extents inside SFHQ-KLN & Other Formations to Turn Green with Coconut Saplings

The Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) premises were to go green planting 350 coconut seedlings, covering a large portion of its unused land extent inside the camp compound.

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi as the first stage of the coconut cultivation programme planted the first few saplings on Monday (21) and inaugurated the project. A stock of those saplings would also be distributed among camps. Those coconut saplings were donated for this express purpose at the SFHQ-KLN by Mr Senaka Rodrigo from Kuliyapitiya.

The gesture that coincided with the Army Commander's instructions for promotion of agricultural prospects in all responsible areas in keeping with the 'Thuru Mithuru - Nawa Ratak' cultivation project and inside compounds while simultaneously contributing to production of organic fertilizer will continue to be supported by all Divisions, Brigades and formations under the SFHQ-KLN.

Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Brigadier General Staff Brigadier Prabath Kodithuwakku, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ-KLN were also present during the inaugural ceremony.
