On the directions of the Commander, Security Forces-Central, Major General W.R.M.M. Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, troops of the Security Force HQ-Central listened to an awareness lecture on ‘Prevention of Illicit Drugs and Drug Addiction’ conducted at the Torch Cinema in Diyatalawa on Wednesday (10 May).
The informative lecture was delivered by Brigadier (Dr) R.M.M Monaragala USP, Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Preventive Medicine & Mental Health Services at the Army Headquarters.
He was assisted by two professionals who also contributed by dwelling on the use of illicit substances and varieties of dangerous drugs. Impact of such uses and repercussions, related to use of drugs, narcotics, and illicit substances were also taken up for review.
30 Officers and 300 Other Ranks representing Army establishments, Training schools and Battalions in and around the HQ joined those sessions.
