ATS at Maduru Oya Turns 38 Years

The Army Training School (ATS) at Maduruoya celebrated its 38th Anniversary giving priority to religious and military formalities during 9-14 January.

The anniversary ceremonies commenced with the invocation of religious blessings on the ATS at Polonnaruwa Roman Catholic Church, Kaduruwela Jumma Masjid Mosque, and at Mananpitiya Hindu Kovil on 9 January.

The following day (10 January), members of the Maha Sangha chanted ‘Pirith’ and blessed the progress of the ATS before 25 monks in the area were offered alms on the next day.

Next, a total of 98 troops, including officers and other ranks serving in the ATS volunteered and donated their blood to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital with the support of the medical staff.

On the anniversary day (13) in accordance with military traditions, a ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were presented to Major General Senaka Kasthurimudali, Commandant, ATS on his arrival at the premises.

An All Rank lunch on the same day brought the anniversary arrangements to an end.
