ASVU Provides Refreshments to Participants in Independence Day Rehearsals

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army HQ, concerned about welfare aspects of the Tri-Forces troops and all participating in the rehearsals of the forthcoming 74th National Independence Day celebrations has launched a project to distribute refreshment sachets among participants including students and artistes since the first day of the rehearsals on 29 January. The distribution among all participants will continue during rehearsals until the final day of the parade.

This distribution coordinated by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was initiated on a suggestion made by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit in close collaboration with both Sunquick Lanka Private Limited and Pure Dale Company Ltd.

During morning hours on Monday (31), Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President Army Seva Vanitha Unit, symbolically distributed a set of these refreshment packs among particpants in the parade rehearsal.

Few senior officers, including Brigadier Thushara Balasooriya, Brigadier Coordination at the ASVU were associated with the arrangement.
