Most Ven Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero, Maha Nayake (Chief Prelate) for the Asgiriya Chapter, in a gesture of compassion, goodwill and harmony on the New Year day (1) extended his generosity by providing dry-ration packets for distribution among 335 low-income group families in the Jaffna peninsula.
These dry-ration packets worth more than Rs 1 million contained rice, milk powder, dhal, dry fish, canned fish, cereals, oil bottles, soap, sprats, nutrients and sugar and the donor, Ven Maha Nayake Thero wanted the Jaffna troops to distribute them among beneficiaries. The distribution process for deserving families in Karaveddi, Kudarappu, Punithanagar, Chulipuram and Ariyalai villages took two days (1 - 2 Jan).
