Army Woman Rowers Win Defence Services Championship Trophy

Defence Services Rowing Tournament, in Diyawannawa organized by Sri Lanka Navy was held for the third consecutive year at Waters Edge on Tuesday (26).

The tournament went ahead under five different categorizes namely; coxless four, coxed four, pair, double scull and scull.

Sri Lanka Army Woman rowers won the overall championship in women’s category and Army male rowers fetched runners-up slot in the men’s category.

Army Rowers (Men and Women) won 8 Gold medals, 15 Silver medals and 7 Bronze medals.

The Army was represented by Private T.A.N Somaratne in men’s category, together with Private W.V.S.L Lakshani, Private H.M.B.S Kumari Herath, Lance Corporal P.P.T.S Weerasinghe, Private D.M Abeyratne.  Lance Corporal A.R.M.M Ratnayake was selected the Gold medalist of the tournament.
