Army Troops thru Sponsors Install Water Purification Unit for Civilians

Generous sponsorships, provided by a team of donors, led by Brigadier R.D.O Pathiranage, Judge Advocate General of the Army resulted in the inauguration of a water purification system for residents in Gonaganara area in Moneragala and the distribution of school stationery and accessories among 310 deserving students in Gonaganara Junior School in Moneragala on Tuesday (9).

20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 121 Infantry Brigade of the 12 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Central installed the water purification unit as a much-needed public project since the community in Gonaganara area remained badly-hit due to lack of drinking water.

During a simple ceremony, organized at Gonaganara Junior School in Moneragala, the donors opened the water purification project (Osmosis Plant) and joined the distribution of school accessories to 310 students learning in the same school. In addition, a stock of low-country tea saplings were also shared among some planter families as incentives.

Major General W.R.M.M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces-Central, Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division along with Brigadier L.A.J.L.V Udowita RWP RSP, 121 Brigade Commander, donors, Senior Officers, Officers and troops were present during the project.
