Troops of the 12 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Central extended their hospitality to pilgrims on foot pilgrimage (Paada Yathra) by way of providing sumptuous meals to them when those pilgrims from North and East regions were crossing through the Yala National Park and the Katagamuwa entrance during 15 – 21 June.
The former Basnayake Nilame at Kataragama Dewalaya on Wednesday (21) sponsored the provision of meals to them by holding a mega free eatery (Rice Dansela) in close cooperation with Army troops serving the area. More than 11,000 devotees and visitors shared the free meals served in the rice and curry 'Dansela'.
Accordingly, 11 Infantry Division and 12 Infantry Division troops provided the manpower to cook the meals and other facilitating arrangements on the guidelines given by Major General W.R.M.M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces-Central.
Major General P.P.A Perera, Hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division ensured the smooth conduct of the treat in coordination with respective Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers.
