Army Swimmers Dominate 84th Swimming Championship at Mount Lavinia

The 84th 2-Mile sea swimming championship, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union got underway at Mount Lavinia Beach during 3-4 March with the participation of more than 800 swimmers representing over 80 swimming clubs.

Army swimmers emerged winners clinching the championship for the 6th time in a row. They claimed the Men’s Championship trophy, Defence Services Trophy, Highest aggregate Points Challenge Trophy and Best Individual Swimmer’s Trophy.

Sri Lanka Army swimmers earned 86 points to carry the championship while the St. Joseph's College team got 67 points to be the runners-up. Ambalangoda Devananda College swimmers scored 20 points to secure the third place.

62 Swimmers from the Army participated in the contest under the guidance of Major General Nishantha Manage, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Aquatic Sports Committee and Director General General Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
