Army Steps Up to Improve Safety at School for Visually and Hearing Impaired Students in Wellassa

Troops of 121 Infantry Brigade undertook a critical project to improve safety condition at Wellassa Subhagya College, a school for students with visual and hearing impairments, following the instructions of the Commander of the Army.

The initiative, guided by the General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division, and supervised by the Commander of 121 Infantry Brigade, involved seven soldiers from the Corps of Engineer Services and nine soldiers from the 18 Gemunu Watch. The troops assisted in concreting the school's main road and repairing the lavatory system.

This effort was made possible through the financial contribution of Major Anura Wijewickrama (Rtd), a resident of Australia.

The construction work was successfully completed on 15 March 2024 and the improved facilities were vested in the benefit of the students at the school.
