NORTH & EAST: ACTING ON INFORMATION, a special Police team from Colombo with assistance of the 231 Brigade troops in WELIKANDA conducted a search operation in the general area of SENAPURA on Tuesday (21) and found another stock of ammunition and weapons & other accessories abandoned by the LTTE.
The combined search helped the troops and the Police recover thirteen General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) ammunition, four GPMG drums, five Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) links, three MPMG drums, one thousand and six hundred MPMG ammunition two MPMG tripods, eight 40 mm Grenade Launcher cartridges, seventy-five 12.7 mm ammunition, one 60 mm mortar bomb, twenty T-56 magazines, six Light Machine Gun (LMG) drums, forty-three RPG bombs, twenty-nine RPG chargers, two RPG fuses, one YAMAHA boat engine (40 HP), two boat engines (200 HP), spare parts of a boat engine and one NISSAN vehicle engine.
Meanwhile, troops in PULIYANPOKKANAI, PANIKKANKULAM, VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL and PUTHUKKUDDIYIRUPPU recovered ten claymore mines, two 81mm mortar bombs, one T-56 weapon, seven thousand one hundred and fifty rounds of T-56 ammunition, nine barrels of kerosene oil, one barrel of lubricant oil, two thousand two hundred and twenty General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) ammunition, eleven tripods, one small arm sight, five Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), five RPG cartridges, one RPG booby trap, two oxygen cylinders, three Out Board Motors (OBM), one heavy gun accessory box, two gun sights, one 82 mm mortar sight, three artillery sights in a box and five hand grenades from KULAMURIPPU on Tuesday (21).
