The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) in coordination with the Department of Probation and Child Care Services recently launched an island-wide awareness programme, named ‘Surakimu Sonduru Pawula’ (Let’s preserve the beautiful family) and its first phase got underway on Monday (4) for Army personnel working in the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) to be in keeping with a proposal, made by the Commander of the Army.
A lecture session attended by state officials in charge of child affairs delivered lectures at the Torch Cinema Hall inside the SFHQ-C where both Mrs Niranjala Goonawardene, Media Coordinator and Mr Athula Sri Mahanama, Human Resources Promotion officer at the Department of Probation and Child Care Services conducted the programme.
A few more than 80 Army personnel serving at the SFHQ-C and their family members also attended the lecture session. Several senior officers, ASVU representatives and state officials were present during the event.
