Army Karate Team Clinch Karate Premier League - 2022 Championship Trophy

The Sri Lanka Army Karate Team achieved a convincing victory clinching the Karate Premier League - 2022 Trophy at the Karate Do Federation, organized Karate Premier League Tournament at Bandaragama stadium on Saturday (26). This was the first time Karate tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation inviting island-wide Karate teams.

16 island-wide Karate teams including those of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police and Civil teams vied for supremacy in the tournament. Finally, the Sri Lankan Army team won the Championship securing the Karate Premier League - 2022 Trophy.

Sergeant R.M.D.L Weerasinghe of 1 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Corporal K.D Bandarigodage of 3 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Lance Corporal W.R.S Fonseka of 1 Sri Lanka Engineers, F.H.K.L Silva of 1 Sri Lanka Engineers and Private W.S.V Dias of 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry represented the Sri Lanka Army Team.

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army personally inquired into their requirements, prior to their participation.
