Army Joins to Clean up Coastal Belt


Coinciding with the island-wild programme to clean up the coastal belt on account of the World Coastal clean up Day, the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) launched a coastal belt clean up project on Saturday (19).

Under the supervision of Major General Ubaya Medawela, Commander, SFHQ-West, 175 troops serving the 14 and 58 Divisions participated in the project that was conducted along the Ratmalana & Mount Lavinia coastal belts in Colombo District and Rathmalyaya & Thiladiya coastal belts in Puttalam District, covering a patch of about 6 kilometers.

One more stage of this project is scheduled to commence on 23 September along Rathgama & Dodanduwa coastal belts in Galle District and Dickwella & Oruthotupala coastal belts in Matara District, covering 3 kilometers with the participation of 180 troops.
