Army Initiative Gets Water Purifying Unit to the Students

Following coordination, effected by the 27 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 622 Brigade of the 62 Division Headquarters in Galkulama, Padavisripura, the company, ABC Security Services (Pvt) Ltd, chaired by Mr A.M Abaya Adikari offered its generosity to install a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant at the Trincomalee / Pulmudai Minaral Sand Sinhala College premises at a cost of Rs. 325,000/=.

Sri Lanka Army troops and Army Engineers with no cost to the Army installed the Osmosis unit in the premises and vested it with the students during a simple ceremony on Friday (27). The incidence of Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) in the North Central Province has remarkably increased due to pollution of drinking water, prompting the government to establish its own task force against CKD.

The commissioning of the new purification unit took place on Friday (27) during a simple ceremony at the school premises in the presence of the principal, students, 622 Brigade Commander, 62 Division Civil Affairs Officer, Second In Command of 2 GR troops, parents and several other invitees to the occasion.

The project was given blessings by the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) after the shortage of drinking water of the school was brought to the notice of the Army.
