1500 dry-ration packets, sponsored by Ven Thalagala Sumanarathna Thero, the Founding Chairman of Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation and Tan Ngak Buay & Keen Meng Lang Foundation Limited of Singapore were distributed through Army coordination and initiative for low-income group people in the general area of Karthivu, Ampara on Monday (30).
Troops of 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of the 24 Division organized the distribution of those relief packets at multi-function hall in Karthivu town. Representatives of donors, including Ven Ethimale Ananda Thero, the secretary of the Ampara District Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation and respective Grama Seva officials were present during the event.
Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Civil Affairs Officer, 24 Division, 241 Brigade Commander, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the arrangement.
