Dry ration packets, each worth about Rs. 5100.00), gifted by Chinese Buddhist temples and Chinese Buddhists in the People's Republic of China were donated to 100 children of low income group families learning at Akkaraipattu Dharmarathana Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya and Damruwan Pre-school at Akkaraipattuwa Sri Vijayarama temple, following initiatives taken by the General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc through the coordination of the Commander 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel L.S.D.N Pathirathna RSP USP on Saturday (15 July).
The gesture of goodwill was facilitated by Mr Nishantha Witharana and Mr Udaya Karunarathna with the blessings of the Chief Incumbent, Ven Dewagoda Soratha Thero, Incumbent at Akkaraipattuwa Sri Vijayarama temple. The distribution was arranged by the 241 Infantry Brigade troops and relief packets contained rice, dhal, sugar, milk powder, noodles, tinned fish, flour, etc
The General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc with the Commander of 241 Infantry Brigade Colonel L.S.D.N Pathirathna RSP USP, Staff Officers, and Other Ranks took part in the distribution programme.
